A Few Signs You Need A New Electrician

In our last post, we took the opportunity to share a few tips regarding what folks should look for when looking for an electrician — in Cincinnati and beyond. To be fair, however, you don’t have to live in Cincinnati to find a few practical guidelines in that post. No matter what part of the country you live in, we think you’ll find our tips helpful!

And as an aside, Although we are based out of Cincinnati and the majority of our customers and clients hail from there as well, we extend our service area to include parts of Northern Kentucky as well. So keep that in mind if you are in the Tri-State area!

The aforementioned tips we provided in our previous post were far from revolutionary — but they are necessary reminders. Go back and read it if you have the chance, but we’ll remind you briefly below. You want to find a local electrician who is:

  • Licensed and certified
  • Experienced
  • Communicative
  • Upfront about pricing
  • Honest and accurate about timelines and appointments
  • Has a solid online reputation, with the BBB and otherwise

If you are on the hunt for a reliable electrician, utilizing these tips is a great place to start. Of course, if you live near Cincinnati, we’ve got you covered right here at Electric Masters!

ELECTRICIAN WARNING SIGNS

Today’s post isn’t quite a part two per se — it’s more like the other side of the coin. Where our last post highlighted some positive attributes you should look for, today’s will showcase a few unsavory signs. Let’s get going!

Shoddy Workmanship

You might be in need of a new electrician if you find that your electrician simply isn’t good at what they do. A license is no guarantee of competence (although a certification is definitely a good sign), so you’ve got to be aware of the possibility that your electrician might try to fake their way through a tough job. While poor technicians will be problem-focused and excuse-riddled, high-quality electricians will be solution-oriented. Look out for a mindset of “good enough” when it comes to work done. This is your household’s, well-being, and safety we are talking about here. Don’t mess around with untrustworthy workmanship or the electricians who are comfortable passing it off as complete.

General Defensiveness

We are combining combativeness, defensiveness, and general shadiness all into one here, since they all stem from a similar issue. It might be that your electrician is nondescript regarding pricing or timeline for the work to be done. It might be that they seem generally abrasive and not interested in answering any of your questions. Further, they might get argumentative when you don’t understand when a project needs to be delayed.

Simply because they are the expert does not mean that your electrician can come into your home and treat you poorly. Don’t stand for it! There are other options available to you; we aren’t the only electrical contractors out there who do right by their customers!
