Keep reading to learn more:

#3. Replace faulty wiring.

One of the most common causes of electrical surges is faulty wiring, and if your home has faulty wiring, power surges may be the least of your worries. If you live in an older home, get your electrical system inspected by an electrician to determine if your wiring needs to be replaced or not.

#4. Avoid daisy chaining.

Daisy chaining basically means that you plug one plug into another plug, such as plugging an extension cord into a surge protector. This leaves your appliances and electronics incredibly vulnerable to surges, so it’s best to avoid it.

#5. Invest in appliances with surge protection.

Did you know that some appliances actually have built in surge protection? With these kinds of appliances, you don’t even need a surge protector to protect against power surges! If you experience a lot of power surges in your home, these kinds of appliances may be your best bet.
