You’ll be glad to know that there are lots of things that you can do to save electricity this summer.

During the summertime, it’s common to see a spike in your electricity bill. After all, you’re running the air conditioner, washing more clothes and relying much more heavily on your electricity. However, you can still enjoy your summer without having to deal with a high electricity bill. The following is a list of tips from our electrician in Cincinnati, OH of a few things you can do to save electricity this summer:

#1. Cook outside or use the microwave.

Your air conditioner is already working hard to keep your home cool, and if you use the oven or the stove, it is only going to make it have to work a whole lot harder. In addition to the heat that these appliances create, they also use a great deal of electricity. Cooking outside or using your microwave not only keeps your home cooler, it also helps you cut down on your electricity use.

#2. Use your ceiling fans.

Many people would rather rely on their air conditioning than a ceiling fan, but you shouldn’t discount ceiling fans. They actually cool more effectively than most people think, plus they use up much less electricity than air conditioners. At the very least, you could turn up your thermostats a few degrees and use a ceiling fan to make up for it.

These are just a couple of the many things you can do to save more electricity this summer. Stay tuned for our next blog to learn more.
