It’s common to see an increase in your electricity bill during summer, but there are many ways to lower it.

Unfortunately, summer also typically brings a hike in your electricity bill. However, you aren’t helpless to this hike in your electricity bill! #3. Install an automated thermostat.

Automated thermostats can save you a whole lot of money. When you’re sleeping or not home, you don’t need to be running your air conditioner on full blast, but it’s not always easy to remember to turn your thermostat up. An automated thermostat can help! With an automated thermostat, you can create a temperature schedule, and most automated thermostats even allow you to set your thermostat remotely.

#4. Keep your shades closed.

Sunlight streaming through your windows can be a delightful sight, but it can also warm up your home quite a bit. When the sun is the hottest, you should make it a point to keep your shades closed. Also, if you have dark shades, replace them with light shades. Shades that are a lighter color can reflect the sun more effectively.

#5. Don’t run your washing machine unless it is full.

Because of all of the outdoor activities that summer brings, you are probably going to see an increase in the amount of laundry you have to do to. Running your washing machine for half a load is a big waste of energy, so always make sure that it is full before you run it.
