Many homeowners dread the cold weather because of the expensive electric bills to come.

When your budget is already tight, a higher electric bill can really stress you out, especially if you have a lot of holiday shopping ahead of you. Luckily, there are lots of things you can do to combat the cold without breaking the bank, and ElectricMasters is here to help. Our electrician in Cincinnati wants to help you save while keeping you warm and cozy this winter, and that’s why we’ve come up with the following list of tips to help you lower your electric bill during the winter:

#1. Take advantage of natural light and heat.

The sunshine is out a whole lot less over the winter, but that’s all the more reason to take advantage of it when it is out. Rather than leaving your lights on during the day, leave your curtains and blinds open while the sun is out, so that you can enjoy the natural light and heat that comes from it.

#2. Make sure that your home is properly insulated.

There’s no sense in paying for heat that you’ll never use, but that’s exactly what will happen if your home isn’t properly insulated. You’d be surprised at just how much heat can escape through unsealed doors and windows or an attic that isn’t adequately insulated. You’ll have to turn to a professional to get your attic insulated, but there many options available if you would like to seal your doors and windows on your own.
